Today's riddle: What has a neck but no head? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Two-story data center proposed for site off Route 22 in Bethlehem (lehighvalleylive.com) — A major two-story data center is proposed for Industrial Drive in Bethlehem's LVIP I park, just off Route 22, promising significant new digital infrastructure and investment. Developers say the 65,000-square-foot project will reuse a former industrial site, meet city and community standards, and use more efficient cooling and power systems while aligning with Pennsylvania's GRID guidelines.
2. StemPal Brings Guided AI Support to STEM Learning (mychesco.com) — In Bethlehem, a Lehigh University researcher is building StemPal, an AI-powered suite that helps students tackle math, statistics, and coding problems while giving teachers detailed insight into where kids struggle. Early classroom tests with MathPal show local high school students benefit from step-by-step hints and teachers gain data to better target instruction without letting AI simply hand out answers.
3. Lehigh Valley liquor violations: 7 establishments cited in July (mcall.com) — State liquor enforcement officers cited several Lehigh Valley establishments in July, including Bolete, OBT Restaurant, and the Democratic Association of Bethlehem. Bethlehem businesses are accused of issues like unauthorized alcohol sales, recordkeeping problems, and violating license conditions, with potential fines or license actions still to be decided by an administrative judge.
4. Boy, 9, calls police as mom choked by boyfriend in Lehigh County: Cops (lehighvalleylive.com) — A Bethlehem man is facing strangulation, assault, and child endangerment charges after police say he choked his girlfriend in front of her 9-year-old son in Weisenberg Township. The boy reportedly called 911, both children and mother were treated at a hospital, and the defendant, now out on bail, awaits a preliminary hearing in Lehigh County court.
5. B. Braun Medical Inc. Issues Voluntary Nationwide Recall of 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection USP, 100 mL, in a 150 mL PAB® Container Due to the Presence of Particulate Matter (fda.gov) — A Bethlehem-based unit of B. Braun Medical has issued a voluntary nationwide recall of specific lots of its 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection after zinc oxide particles were found in some containers. While no serious injuries have been reported, the company warns the contaminated IV solution could cause dangerous complications like emboli or organ damage and is directing hospitals and users on how to return affected product and report issues.
