2. 50 years ago, thousands flocked to see Jesus in Shamokin veil. It has a new home in Bethlehem (mcall.com) β A once-famous Shamokin veil that drew pilgrims in the 1970s has been given a permanent home at the Cathedral Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, where it was installed during a special incense-filled service. Local worshipers can now visit the cloth, long associated with reported visions and healings, as clergy emphasize faith and reflection over claims of miracles.

Lehigh Opens Fall Schedule by Hosting the Lehigh Hidden Duals (lehighsports.com) β Lehigh University women's tennis kicked off its fall season in Bethlehem by hosting the Lehigh Hidden Duals at the Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts on Goodman Campus. The Mountain Hawks tallied multiple singles and doubles wins, highlighted by Alina Shyani going undefeated, and will carry that momentum into a matchup with Navy next weekend.

Attorney: Event vendors should confirm permits, terms before paying deposits (cbs6albany.com) β A New York attorney is urging vendors to verify permits, insurance, and clear refund terms before paying deposits, after a carnival in Ballston Spa was canceled and more than 100 vendors were left without an event. As a cautionary example, he points to the troubled Wicked World's Fair once held in Bethlehem where vendors publicly complained about lost money and disputed refunds.

5. Michele J. (Lively) Davis, 55, of Bethlehem Twp. (Obituary Brought to You by Heintzelman Funeral Home) (sauconsource.com) β Bethlehem Township is mourning the passing of Michele J. (Lively) Davis, 55, who died peacefully at home on Sept. 11. Family and friends can pay their respects during visitation and a funeral service Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Heintzelman Funeral Home in Hellertown, and are encouraged to honor her memory through contributions to the American Cancer Society.
