The Lehigh Valley Association of REALTORS® (LVAR) named a winner for the Heroes Campaign Fundraiser T-shirt design contest. Out of 165 entries submitted by local students, Jackie Bush of East Hills Middle School, walked away with top honors. Bush is currently an incoming freshman at Freedom High School.
Contest submissions poured in from Bethlehem Area School District’s Broughal Middle School, East Hills Middle School and Nitschman Middle School in early July. LVAR staff narrowed the competition to the top 20 best designs. The choices went public as the Association opened up a web page for voting. When the votes were tallied in early August, a committee of LVAR staff and members selected the design from the top ten entries that received the most votes. Jackie Bush was revealed as the winner.
“As an Association we were thrilled with the results from this competition, both in terms of the quantity of applicants and the quality of work they created,” says Therese Kelley, president of LVAR. “With the Association having such deep community ties, it’s inspiring for us to see these students feel so passionately about the importance of community service.”
In addition to cementing her artistic expression as the official image of the 2013 LVAR/Heroes event, Bush’s victory has earned her a $50 gift card as well as recognition at the October event. “Both Jackie and her mom, Lucille, were ecstatic to hear the news,” says Kelley. “They are both extremely excited about the event and looking forward to wearing the T-shirts with Jackie’s powerful design.” Hundreds of people will be wearing Bush’s design, but the additional 164 entries will also be on display along the 5K route for participants to enjoy.
