100% of 2019 Nursing Grads Pass Licensing Exam
Harcum College program notches third consecutive year for perfect pass rate.

Bryn Mawr, PA – July 25, 2019 – Harcum College officials announced that for the third consecutive year, 100% of Nursing Program graduates from 2017, 2018, and now 2019 have passed the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Exam) examination on the first attempt. The NCLEX is used to determine if a candidate is ready to become licensed as an entry-level nurse. By
comparison, the national pass rate for first time test takers is 87.30%.
Fran Schuda, Nursing Program Director, credits the program success to the development and implementation of a new curriculum that reflects contemporary nursing practices. “The
curriculum emphasizes proficiencies in the clinical practice, reasoning, and judgment areas,” Schuda explained.
“This is definitely the result of a lot of hard work and attention to each student,” said Harcum President Jon Jay DeTemple.

Schuda characterized the “calling card” for Harcum’s Nursing Program as one of extraordinary personal attention to achieve optimum levels of learning and achievement, including the
one-on-one tutoring provided to students by Nursing faculty.
The new curriculum was a College-supported initiative that included new equipment and increased levels of support for students across the institution. It is not uncommon for Harcum
Nursing students to be working and/or have a family or to be a first generation college student with a background in a related healthcare field such as CNA or CPN. Nursing students at Harcum enter the program with 33 credits in pre-requisites and complete 33 more for a total of 66
credits.
