3 Main Line Colleges Get Funds To Combat Campus Sexual Assault

Gov. Tom Wolf announced $1 million in "It's On Us" grants today for colleges and universities statewide and 3 Main Line schools got a cut.

MAIN LINE, PA — Gov. Tom Wolf just announced $1 million in grants that will be used to combat sexual assault at 36 colleges and universities in the state. And three Main Line schools got a portion of the funds.

Bryn Mawr College was awarded $30,000, Rosemont College was awarded $24,957, and St. Joseph's University got $30,000 in "It's On Us" grant funds.

Colleges and universities use the grants to create programs ranging from campus-wide training for students, faculty and staff, to institutional campaigns to raise awareness of the reporting process and the resources available to survivors of sexual violence.

"Every student, teacher, administrator and visitor to our campuses deserves a safe environment free from harassment," said Governor Wolf. "This is the fourth year that my administration will be working with students, schools and communities to build programs to raise awareness about and stop sexual assaults. We must never tolerate this behavior on our campuses or a culture that allows it."

"Any instance of sexual assault or harassment is abhorrent, especially on campuses where young adults are finding their way," State Rep. Mary Jo Daley, D-Montgomery said. "Raising awareness and working with the entire school community to prevent sexual assault is necessary, and I thank Gov. Wolf, Sec. Rivera and all who have contributed to bringing this funding to Saint Joseph’s and all other institutions."
