3 Main Line Firefighters Go South For Harvey Relief

Two Main Line firefighters and EMTs have shifted their life-saving mission focus from the Main Line to the south, as they head to areas in Texas and Louisiana that have been ravaged by the devastating Hurricane Harvey.

Two men from the Berwyn Fire Company shipped out to Texas and Louisiana, respectively, earlier this week, according to the Berwyn Fire Company. They are volunteer firefighter/EMT William 'Bill' King, longtime career part-time firefighter/EMT Anthony 'A.J.' Pizzi, and career part-time Firefighter/Paramedic James Herb.

King will be working with Team Rubicon USA. He has been assigned to assist with the ongoing water rescue operations in the disaster zone, the fire company said.

Team Rubicon pairs skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to deploy emergency response teams in short notice.

Pizzi and Herb are in Louisiana with the Pennsylvania Disaster Medical Assistance Team (PA-DMAT).

PA-DMAT can deploy anywhere in the U.S. as a fully equipped, self-sufficient, mobile field hospital with a complete medical team including physicians, RNs, respiratory therapists, social workers, EMT and paramedics, pharmacists as well as many logistical, communications and support personnel, the fire company said.
