3 Charged After Fleeing Police, Crashing On Main Line Friday

Police said the women stole about $2,000 worth of sheets from a St. David's store, then fled when police conducted a traffic stop on them.

Three women are facing charges following a retail theft incident and fleeing from police, causing a crash, on the Main Line Friday afternoon.

The women were charged after an officer attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle one of the women, Cherise Todd, was driving, according to Radnor Township Police

Police stopped the vehicle on Conestoga Road in Radnor for a suspended registration, but when the officer stepped out of his patrol vehicle, the vehicle allegedly sped off, police said.

The officer did not pursue the vehicle, but a short while later officers received a report of a crash on Newtown Road.

When police arrived on scene, they found a vehicle on its roof with three women outside of the vehicle.

One woman, later identified as Todd, ran away from the scene following the crash, police said.

Todd then allegedly got into the backseat of a passing vehicle and told the driver to take her home, police said.

The driver did not take Todd home, then Todd allegedly ran off as she heard sirens approaching, police said.

She was apprehended quickly, according to police.

The other two occupants, Kakia Nelson and Jennifer Teagues, were taken into custody, police said.

The vehicle crash on Newtown Road after it struck a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital for non life threatening injuries.

Police said Todd, Nelson, and Teagues stole about $2,000 in sheets from the St. David's Home Good store before the crash.

All three are charged with retail theft, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and fleeing police.

Todd is additionally charged with attempted theft of a motor vehicle, police said.
