A Shining Point In A Tough Loss For Harriton
Harriton lost to Marple Newtown 49-7 last Thursday.

Sometimes it’s hard to find anything good about losing 49-7, when the other team scores on its first five possessions and you’re looking up out of a 35-0 hole by halftime.
It’s the situation Harriton coach Matt Barr was faced with last Thursday, when the Rams were rolled over by Marple Newtown.
But there were a handful of Harriton players who forgot the score. They kept playing, and playing hard.

One of those players was 5-foot-9, 165-pound sophomore Alex Shippen, who ran for a team-high 36 yards and his one-yard touchdown late in the third quarter was the Rams’ only score in the 49-7 loss.
“That’s what I like about Alex, he kept playing hard and I liked the way Alex played,” Barr said. “Alex played his butt off, and he kept running hard. I like his attitude. We’re looking for consistency here, and Alex is one of those young players who are giving that to us.”
