📰 News we're reading

1. Popular Main Line Café Opening Third Location In The Region (patch.com) — Bryn Mawr residents are getting a new spot for coffee, pastries, and casual meals as The Buttery opens its third café at 836 W Lancaster Ave. this weekend. The grand opening features a Bryn Mawr–exclusive lemon poppy kouign amann, giveaways for early customers, and plans for future dinner service and a liquor license, expanding the café’s community-focused presence on the Main Line.

2. Main Line Health Proposes Major New Hospital Campus in Upper Providence (montco.today) — Main Line Health, which already operates Bryn Mawr Hospital and Bryn Mawr Rehab, is proposing a major new 108-bed hospital campus in Upper Providence. The phased project would add medical offices, garages, and road improvements, potentially reshaping healthcare access for Bryn Mawr–area residents who rely on the system’s network across Montgomery and Delaware counties.

3. Montgomery County's Colleges Are Quietly Driving a Major Transformation (montco.today) — Bryn Mawr College is highlighted alongside other Montgomery County campuses as part of a quiet but major transformation in how local colleges shape jobs, town life, and the regional economy. From new construction at Penn State Abington to workforce training at Montco and environmental work at Temple Ambler, the piece shows how Bryn Mawr and Haverford’s collaboration fits into a wider countywide higher-ed network.

4. Adrienne Economos-Miller receives 2026 Graham Foundation Grant for research on architect Roberta Dickinson (uwm.edu) — A visiting lecturer at Bryn Mawr College, M.C. Overholt, is co-leading a newly funded Graham Foundation research project on transgender architect and activist Roberta Dickinson. The work will explore Dickinson’s designs, art, and activism in cities like Philadelphia and Los Angeles, with plans for workshops, lectures, and new writing that link trans history and architecture.

5. BLM for credit: ‘#BlackLivesMatterEverywhere' course centers on activism and Black queer feminism (campusreform.org) — Bryn Mawr College is rolling out a Spring 2027 Africana Studies course on Black Lives Matter activism that highlights Black women and LGBTQ contributions, using everything from literature to social media. The class, part of a broader lineup including “Black Marxism” and “Black Ecofeminism,” reflects how the Bryn Mawr campus is engaging with race, activism, and Black queer feminism in depth.
