Harcum College received a $36,000 grant from the United Concordia Dental Charitable Fund to support its Dental Hygiene Program, marking the beginning of a new partnership between the organizations. The grant funded the purchase and installation of a new dental chair in the Abram and Goldie Cohen Dental Center at Harcum College.

"This support from the United Concordia Dental Charitable Fund is an important investment in our students and the communities we serve," said Dr. Jon Jay DeTemple, President of Harcum College. "The new dental chair gives our students access to updated clinical equipment while strengthening the hands-on education that prepares them for careers in oral health care. We are grateful to United Concordia for supporting our students and our dental center."

"We believe strong communities depend on access to quality dental care, and that begins with preparing the next generation of dental professional. Through this grant, we're proud to support Harcum College in helping future dental hygienists develop the skills and experience they need to provide essential care and promote healthy smiles."

– Kim Pinkerton, vice president of National Sales & Service, United Concordia Dental.

Each year, 32 students enter Harcum's two-year Dental Hygiene Program, gaining classroom knowledge and clinical experience throughout their studies. The Dental Clinic also provides an important service to the community. From July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, the center served 1,218 unduplicated patients across 2,569 visits.

Students' clinical education is supported by strong program outcomes. Patient satisfaction surveys found that 100% of respondents were satisfied with the services provided by Harcum dental hygiene students, and the program achieved a 100% pass rate on the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination.

Harcum's dental faculty welcomed the addition of the new equipment. The chair was installed just before the start of the fall semester, bringing new energy and excitement to the dental center.

"We truly appreciate the new equipment, it looks great," the Dental Hygiene faculty shared. "Faculty are excited and thankful for everyone's support."

Harcum College is grateful to the United Concordia Dental Charitable Fund for its investment in dental education and for establishing a new partnership with the College. The grant strengthens the clinical learning environment for students while supporting the Cohen Dental Center's role in serving the community.
