Animal Control Officers Seek Fundraising Help From Montco, Chesco Residents

Only two individuals help keep the county's animals safe. Now they need the public's help.

The only two animal control officers in Montgomery and Chester counties are asking for the public’s help in funding educational expenses which would allow them to continue their work.

Jon and Tracy Dewalt, who have been Montgomery County residents for 40 years, currently serve 19 townships and boroughs throughout Montgomery and Chester counties.

The Dewalts need to raise money because recent law requires them to become “Humane Certified.” Their Go-Fund Me page says the money will go towards course fees, travel expenses to classes, gear and supplies, and upgrades on current equipment.

We are responsible for everything from a bat in the house to dangerous animals attacking other animals or humans. Our primary goals are protecting the public from dangerous animals as well as protecting animals from dangerous humans or other conditions that pose a risk.

Without any funding, the Dewalts say that they will be forced to reduce their services to part-time.
