The Baldwin School Celebrates Its 127th Graduating Class

Graduates of this outstanding Baldwin class have been awarded $2.7 million in merit based scholarships to their colleges and universities.

BRYN MAWR, PA – June 5, 2015 — On Thursday, June 4, 52 seniors graduated from The Baldwin School as the 127th graduating class. These seniors earned 200 acceptances to 110 colleges and universities across 17 states in the US as well as 1 university in Canada. These acceptances also include six of the eight Ivy League schools. Many of our graduating girls will be attending higher levels of education at the most highly regarded institutions in North America including such distinguished schools as the U.S. Military Academy, Stanford, Harvard, and Georgetown.

The class speaker for the 2015 commencement ceremony was Amber Dugan. Miss Dugan, who was elected to speak by her peers, delivered her speech on June 4 at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. This year’s commencement keynote speaker was Linda Cliatt-Wayman. Ms. Cliatt-Wayman currently serves as the principal of Strawberry Mansion High School in Philadelphia and has numerous achievements in public education. By 2003, she had 20 years of in-classroom experience, which aided her next venture as a teaching coach and principle of Rhodes High School. At Rhodes, Ms. Cliatt-Wayman was credited with raising proficiency in Mathematics from 3% and Reading from 9% to more than 50% in both categories according to the PSSA. From 2010 to 2012, Ms. Cliatt-Wayman was the Assistant Super Intendant overseeing 52 of Philadelphia’s public schools. She then left her position to pursue a cause close to her: to serve as the principle at Strawberry Mansion High School in the neighborhood where she grew up.

Graduates of this outstanding Baldwin class have been awarded $2.7 million in merit based scholarships to their colleges and universities. Seventy-five percent of the girls who indicated a preference were admitted to their first or second choice school. Twenty-seven percent of the class of 2015 will be attending an Ivy League or highly selective liberal arts college or university in the fall.
