Black Rock Road Bridge In Bryn Mawr Closing Oct. 9
Montgomery County officials said the bridge is closing due to safety concerns. Drivers will be guided by signs to a detour route.

BRYN MAWR, PA – Due to safety concerns, a bridge spanning Mill Creek in Bryn Mawr will close Monday, Oct. 9 ahead of its scheduled rehabilitation work, according to Montgomery County officials.
Black Rock Road Bridge in the Bryn Mawr section of Lower Merion Township will close at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9, officials said.
Traffic will be diverted from the bridge via a signed detour, according to officials.

The closure is good timing, as the county previously planned rehabilitation of the bridge, which is set to begin Oct. 17.
The bridge is closing after an inspection by McCormick Taylor under PennDOT’s direction.

Black Rock Road Bridge, which was originally built in 1908, is a concrete slab bridge with an average daily traffic recorded in 2013 of 1,986 vehicles. The bridge lies just south of the Black Rock-Dove Lake road intersection.

Black Rock Road Bridge is just one of 35 active bridge projects that are slated for construction in Montgomery County.
The bridge is in the planning and engineering stage, officials said.
