'Boys of Ardmore' Gang Busted For Series Of Violent Assaults, Robberies On Main Line: DA

The "Boys from Ardmore" used an aluminum baseball bat and a brick in multiple attacks around the Main Line area, the DA said.

A local gang calling themselves "Boys from Ardmore" has been busted for a series of six incidents involving assault, robbery, threat and terroristic threats around the area, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.

The Boys from Ardmore, also known as BFA, were busted after an extensive grand jury investigation gathered enough evidence on the incidents to connect them to the suspects, the DA said. The arrested individuals include Michael Allen, 24, Shaquille Allen, 22, and Quron Brokenborough, 23.

According to the investigation, the Boys began their crime spree on Nov. 26, 2015 when they executed a series of attacks on multiple individuals and properties in the area.

Incident 1: First block of Prospect Avenue, Bryn Mawr

The first incident occurred at around 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 26, 2015, an affidavit of probable cause states. The trio trailed Victim 1, who was with his friend and his friend's grandmother at the Bryn Mawr Park and Playground on Old Lancaster Road, back to a residence on the first block of Prospect Avenue, authorities stated.

It's not clear why they wanted to attack the victim, who was clearly an acquaintance. The victim told police the Boys attempted to lure him outside to fight, and when he refused to come out, they broke into the home, court documents show. A verbal argument ensued, and 911 was called, police said.

Incident 2: 900 block of West Lancaster Avenue, Bryn Mawr

At around 5 p.m., the same victim was walking on the 900 block of West Lancaster when Brokenborough and Michael Allen pulled up in a car, threw him to the ground, and kicked him repeatedly, police said. The victim eventually broke free and ran, according to the DA.

Incident 3: 100 block of Walnut Avenue, Ardmore

At 5:50 p.m. that night, Victim 2, a cousin of Victim 1, went with a few of his family members to the Allen home, which is on the block, in order to settle the dispute, court documents state.

However, the conversation seems to have quickly devolved into fighting, and numerous gunshots were fired, police said. Numerous people were running away from the scene as police arrived, and Victim 2 was beaten with a baseball bat and required medical attention, according to authorities.

Incident 4: First block of Prospect Avenue, Bryn Mawr

Victim 1 and more of his family returned to Prospect Avenue that night, when a man who identified himself as "Jared" came to the door and demanded Victim 1 come out, police said.

When they closed the door on him, Jared continued to call numerous people inside, police said. Documents show that he stated: "I'm not going to kill him because I know he has a baby."

When family members tried to figure out why they were trying to hurt Victim 1, Jared said that "You wouldn't understand. I'm BFA. I have to do this," documents state.

Phone calls to the home continued for hours, until they finally ceased at around 10 p.m.

Incident 5: Wawa on South Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bryn Mawr

Victim 1 left Prospect Avenue just after 10 p.m. to go to Wawa. All three of the Boys and an unknown white male pulled up while the victim was inside and assaulted him when he came out, stealing his iPhone and $500 in cash, police said.

Incident 6: 200 block of Simpson Road, Ardmore

Months later, on April 23, Victim 3, apparently unrelated to the first two victims, was attacked outside the American Legion Post at around 1:40 a.m., police said.

Authorities said police identified Michael Allen as one of the subjects leading the attack. Allen allegedly used a brick to smash Victim 3 in the head, police said.

A motivation for this attack has not yet been made clear by authorities.

Bail has been set at $100,000 for each of the Boys, who have all been taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing has been set for Oct. 20 at 10 a.m.
