Bryn Mawr Bank Robber Gets 16-Year Sentence For Four Bank Robberies

David Thomas hit banks in Bryn Mawr and Philadelphia over two months in 2015.

A Philadelphia man who robbed three banks on four separate occasions in 2015 received a 16-year sentence on Friday, according to the the U.S. Attorney's Office Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

David Thomas, 23, of Philadelphia was sentenced to 192 months in state prison as well as $48,408 for robbing three banks, the attorney's office said.

The attorney's office said Thomas orchestrated the four robberies, two at the Wells Fargo 52 N. Bryn Mawr Ave., Bryn Mawr on May 14 and June 2, 2015; one at the TD Bank at 8600 Germantown Ave. in Chestnut Hill; and another at the TD Bank at 5501 Ridge Ave. in the Manayunk area on July 15 where Thomas and several others robbed the bank with firearms.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Philadelphia and Lower Merion Police Departments investigated the case, the attorney's office said.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Eric A. Boden, according to the attorney's office.
