Bryn Mawr College Hosts Program For Children Of Terrorism Victims

The "leadership and peace-building" is designed for teens who have lost a family member to an act of terrorism.

BRYN MAWR, PA -- Bryn Mawr College has announced they are hosting a "leadership and peace-building" reception and talk designed for teens who have lost a family member to an act of terrorism.

"Project COMMON BOND" will partner with the college for the event.

An initiative of Tuesday’s Children, Project COMMON BOND is the premier international peace-building program that, every summer, brings together dozens of young adults, ages 15-20, from around the world who have lost a family member to an act of terrorism, violent extremism or war.

Project COMMON BOND is changing the lives of these young people through a curriculum that teaches peacebuilding, fosters intercultural understanding, and encourages positive community action.

Since 2008, more than 450 young adults from 21 nations have participated in Project COMMON BOND.

Bryn Mawr has served as the home of the program five times. This year, for the first time, Tuesday’s Children is engaging the Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research Social Justice Initiative as well as the Leadership, Innovation and Liberal Arts Center to facilitate the summer program.

The reception is an opportunity for community members to learn more about this extraordinary, life-changing, week-long program taking place in July on the Bryn Mawr campus.

Formed in the aftermath of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, Tuesday’s Children is a response and recovery organization that supports youth, families, and communities impacted by terrorism and traumatic loss.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 7 at Bryn Mawr College's Wyndham Alumnae House on 101 N. Merion Avenue
