Bryn Mawr Film Institute Celebrating 40th Anniversary of Rocky Tonight
Yards Bewring, Philly Pretzel companies providing event with beer and soft pretzels.
At 7 p.m. at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, Philadelphia area citizens swill be able to relive the glory of Rocky Balboa in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Academy Award winning film "Rocky." The event will have a pre-screening reception with Yards Brewing and the Philadelphia Pretzel companies providing beer – specifically the Yards Brawler Pugilist Style Ale – and soft pretzels.
"Rocky" was inspired by boxing underdog Chuck Wepner's story of going nearly 15 rounds with Muhammad Ali in 1975. The Sylvester Stallone flick earned several Oscars including Best Picture and spawned many sequels, such as 2015's "Creed," which was lauded for its depiction of Philadelphia's darker side.
Joan Bressler of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office will introduce the film. Tickets are $10 for seniors and students, $12.50 for adults, and $6.50 for film institute members. Refreshment are free.
