CERTAPRO PAINTERS OF THE MAIN LINE HOSTS FOURTH ANNUAL HOMES FOR OUR TROOPS 5K
Funds from May 31 5k to Benefit Wounded Veteran Roberto Reyes
CertaPro Painters of the Main Line is partnering with Homes for Our Troops for its fourth annual 5k walk/run to benefit injured veterans. The 5k will be held on May 31 and kicks off at 8:30 a.m. at Heritage Trail in Bala-Cynwyd. All funds from the 5k will go toward building a specially adapted home for Army Specialist Roberto Reyes Jr. Participants can register for the 5k here.
Army SPC Roberto Reyes Jr. was serving in Baghdad in 2005 when his vehicle was struck by an explosive device. Suffering a severe traumatic brain injury and partial paralysis as a consequence of the attacks, Reyes’ initial prognosis was discouraging; family members were told that he would most likely not survive 24 hours. Yet Reyes endured. Now, thanks to the efforts of the nonprofit organization Homes for Our Troops and their many Corporate Partners including CertaPro Painters of the Main Line, Reyes will soon be the beneficiary of a specially adapted home, mortgage-free, thanks in part to money collected from participants of the 5k walk/run.
CertaPro Painters of the Main Line is no stranger to participating in charitable endeavors like the forthcoming 5k walk/run. For the past four years, the franchisee of North America’s largest painting company has held a coat drive to benefit organizations like Impact Services and Cradles to Crayons. In addition, the location has hosted a children’s book drive for the last three years, brought canvases and paint to children at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and donated to organizations Laurel house, Fox Chase Cancer and Love for Lolly. These contributions, said CertaPro Painters of the Main Line owner Chris Drucquer, are every bit as important as the painting services the company provides to the area.

“Every successful business owes a great deal to the community,” said Drucquer. “Doing everything we can to help our neighbors is one of the ways we try to show our appreciation for all the community has done to help us reach our potential.”

Homes for Our Troops (HFOT) is a national nonprofit, non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2004 which supports Veterans Post-9/11 and their families by building mortgage-free, specially adapted homes nationwide. Most of these veterans have sustained life-altering injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our veterans sacrificed while defending our country and enable them to focus on their family, recovery and rebuilding their lives. HFOT builds the homes where the veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives. Since its founding in 2004, 90 cents of every dollar donated to HFOT has gone directly to our program services for Veterans. Year to date, HFOT has built 187 specially adapted homes nationwide.
