Come Build Lasting Friendships at The Philly Friendship Walk and Fun Fair on October 9th

The Friendship Circle Philadelphia Region South connects teens and young adults to youth with special needs and their families.

BRYN MAWR – Lace up your sneakers and gear up for fitness and fun! On Sunday, October 9, 2016, the Philly Friendship Circle will host the 9th annual Philly Friendship Walk and Fun Fair. Participants will be ready to go by 2 pm and the event will continue until 4:30 pm at (Barrack Academy, 272 S Bryn Mawr Ave, Bryn Mawr, PA). All proceeds go back to the Philly Friendship Circle.

The Philly Friendship Circle has been building friendships and creating volunteer opportunities since 2004. Originally founded by Lubavitch House, the organization serves families, children, and teens in the Philadelphia, Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware Counties. The organization opens the doors to friendship and creates safe spaces for children with disabilities to socialize and interact with older teens, without pressure from outside sources. These programs not only benefit the children, but also teens looking for an engaging volunteer opportunity in their area.

The purpose of the Friendship Walk is to advocate and continue to fund the programs that Philly Friendship Circle provides for families around the Philadelphia area. This year’s walk will unite over 850 people to raise awareness and spend the day together as a Jewish community!

“The walk is an opportunity to get together and celebrate with the whole family everything that Friendship Circle does. It’s an event that all ages can come together and have fun,” said Zev Baram, program director of Philly Friendship Circle.

Individuals can choose to volunteer or walk at the event, with the option to fundraise as well. Volunteers will be assisting those on the course by walking or running with participants. The focus of the afternoon will be on fitness and how to stay motivated throughout the year. Coaches will be guiding participants through stretches and fitness drills and stress the importance of motivation.
