Computer Coding Academy Comes Rosemont

BSD Code and Design Academy offers young people lessons in a six-figure skill.

Computer coding is one of the world's most crucial skills and its applicability only grows as technology burgeons. From developing website to smartphone apps, to making robots and drones work, coding has nearly limitless applications in the real world. It also teaches people how to problem solve and think analytically and programmatically due to the technical nature of the skill.

That's why Ashley Govberg is bringing the BSD Code and Design Academy to the Main Line area.

Govberg told Main Line Parent Magazine that coding is "an essential life skill."

"Being able to write code and understand the application of technology in problem solving has become a part of everyday life," she told the magazine.

Govberg is the North American founder of BSD Code and Design Academy. BSD stands for "Bridging STEM and Design," which is the goal of the academy, meaning the technical aspects of coding and the design aspects of it meet to create beautiful and functional digital and physical products.

BSD's U.S. location is in Rosemont at 1149 Lancaster Ave., Bryn Mawr.

The academy is an after-school program that give kids the chance to learn coding skills to help them become the world's next Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg. Kids in the academy build websites, learn programmatic thinking, develop video games, design and build robots, and more, the magazine reports.

BSD offers single classes and monthly and yearly memberships, as well as a Summer Camp program for which registration is open. Private classes are also available.

The academy and Main Line Parent Magazine are teaming up for an event Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the Bryn Mawr location that will introduce kids to Java coding language and a 3d programming software.
