Shipley Partners with Chris Nowinski and the Sports Legacy Institute to Host Concussion Education Panel Discussion on August 28.

On Thursday, August 28, Shipley will host an event focused on the sports concussion crisis, alongside Chris Nowinski, co-founder and executive director at the Sports Legacy Institute (SLI), and several professional, world-class athletes. The event is open to the public. RSVP if you would like to learn about this contentious debate and discuss how Shipley and SLI are creating a safer environment for student athletes. The guided panel discussion will moderated by Andrew Brandt, NFL Business Analyst at ESPN and Shipley parent, with advice from current and former professional athletes and sports experts on how not to let injuries end one’s career, as well as a discussion on general concussion education led by Nowinski.

An impressive group of key players will sit on the panel, including:
- Chris Nowinski, former WWE superstar, Harvard football player and author of Head Games: The Global Concussion Crisis
- Josephine Pucci, U.S. Olympic Silver Medalist at Sochi and current Harvard University Women’s Ice Hockey Captain
- Doug Warren, former Major League Soccer player and NCAA All-American goalie at Clemson
- Steve Jolley, former Major League Soccer player (2001 MLS All-Star and 2002 MLS Humanitarian of the Year), TV analyst for FC Dallas and NCAA All-American at College of William and Mary
- Andrew Brandt (moderator), NFL Business Analyst at ESPN, columnist for Sports Illustrated and TheMMQB.com, Director of Moorad Center for Sports Law at Villanova University, and lecturer on sports business at The Wharton School of Business
Shipley has worked closely with Nowinski and Dr. Robert Cantu of SLI to develop the School’s policy on heading and to establish a partnership to increase awareness of the importance of concussion prevention. The continued expansion of this partnership has allowed Shipley to further its efforts to enhance the safety and health of the students and to serve the Shipley community as best possible.
