Community Update

A new laser technology recently approved by the FDA is about
to change tattoo removal forever. Picosure®, a new laser by Cynosure
is the first laser to use picosecond pulses to create photomechanical impact
and to shatter the ink or pigment into tiny dust-like particles. Our body is
able to absorb and eliminate the smaller particles faster and more effectively
than ever before.  As a result, we can
now achieve better tattoo clearance in less treatments.

To many, body art is seen as form of personal expression.
The most common form of body art is the tattoo.
According to e! Science News,
the typical American tattoo patient is: female, single, college educated and
between the ages of 24 and 39 years old.
A majority of these individuals are initially content with their tattoo,
however, there is still a large population of individuals who are unsatisfied
and regret their decision. Employment also plays a large factor in the need for
tattoo removal as 40% use this as a reason to have their tattoo removed. I firmly believe, the Picosure® laser is the biggest advance
in tattoo removal since I started performing the procedure 16 years ago. The Picosure®
creates less trauma to the skin and avoids scars and other side effects that
are common with the older technologies.

One
treatment with Picosure® provides better clearance than two or sometimes three
treatments with ANY older technology Q-Switched laser.  It also has
the ability to target ink colors such as light green, light blue, and yellow
that could not be removed by the older lasers.

The number of Picosure® lasers on the market is
still very low. In fact, we here at Ringpfeil Advanced Dermatology are the only
practice in Pennsylvania that offers treatment with the Picosure®.

We also offer a unique free phone service for
people who are considering the procedure. You can upload a photo of your tattoo
onto the practice’s website (http://www.ringpfeildermatology.com/)
and schedule a phone call with one of the practice’s tattoo removal experts who
will tell you if you are a candidate for tattoo removal, the number of expected
treatments and the expected cost.

In the case of the Picosure®
laser, less is more; fewer treatment, better clearance of all colors and less
damage to the skin makes
this the perfect option for those unwanted or regretted tattoos. Tattoos should
never mean forever and now they don’t have to.
