A draft update to the Act 537 Sewage Facilities Plan for 31 municipalities in Delaware County contains a proposal to require inspections of private sewer laterals only at the time of a real estate sale. The Suburban REALTORS® Alliance is strongly opposed to the plan, and is urging Delaware County officials and the Delaware County Regional Water Quality Control Authority (DELCORA) to provide a more comprehensive approach to lateral inspections. “The current draft plan will serve only to delay a serious solution to the problem of sewer inflow and infiltration in Delaware County,” according to Jamie Ridge, president/CEO of the Alliance. “To make matters worse, this plan will make buying and selling homes in the municipalities that mandate the inspections much more expensive and difficult.” Follow the link to read the full text of the letter sent by the SRA to Delaware County and DELCORA: http://www.suburbanrealtorsalliance.com/news/documents/Delco_DELCORA_ACT537Letter.pdf
