Please join us for an Evensong for the First Sunday in Lent featuring: Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis in Eb by Charles Wood and Miserere mei by William Byrd. Service music by Gerre Hancock will also be sung. The Chancel Choir under the direction of Michael Diorio will be accompanied by Michael Stairs on the organ.
The order of worship for Evensong is taken from the church service liturgy of Evening Prayer. It is used in many Episcopal and Anglican Churches and is celebrated in the late afternoon or evening. It is commonly known as Evensong because the service is rendered chorally (that is, when most of the service is sung).
