The Society Hill String Quintet will present a concert at Church of the Redeemer on Sunday, April 15, at 4:00 pm in the Church. The program will include the Divertimento in C major of Michael Haydn and Antonin Dvorak’s String Quartet No. 2 in G major, Op. 77. Tickets for the concert are $20/adults and $10/students and will be available for purchase at the door.
The Society Hill String Quintet was formed in 2004, bringing together one member from each of The Philadelphia Orchestra’s string sections to perform a chamber concert at the Society Hill Synagogue in Philadelphia. Since then the group, which includes violinists Paul Arnold and Elina Kalendarova, violist Judy Geist, cellist Kathryn Picht Read and bassist Robert Kesselman, has performed concerts around the Philadelphia area, including regular appearances on The Philadelphia Orchestra Chamber Music Series. Their programs feature music written and specially arranged for string quintet (including unique arrangements by Paul Arnold, his father Allan, and Edward Kalendar), as well as string duos, trios and quartets.
