Ex Main Line Commissioner Accused Of Fondling Seeking Plea: Report

A former Radnor Township Commissioner is seeking a plea deal after being accused of fondling a 103-year-old woman with a mental disability.

William Spingler, a former Main Line commissioner who has been accused of fondling his 103-year-old mother in law who suffers from mental disability, is reportedly seeking a plea deal in the case as it heads to trial. Spingler is a former Radnor Township commissioner.

According to Philly.com, Spingler's trial was postponed April 20 and his lawyer said the former pol is looking for a plea deal with prosecutors.

The outlet reports though Spingler's charges are misdemeanors, district attorney Jack Whelan will be part of the case due to Spingler's profile and time as a public officials.

With a plea on the table, Spingler's lawyer said an agreement has not yet been reached however.

The trial has been set for May 25.

Spingler allegedly was found sexually assaulting a 103-year-old woman with dementia, later identified as his mother in law from an previous marriage, at at the Wayne Nursing Home, with police reporting the assaults occurred on Dec. 15, Dec. 17, and Dec. 23.

In an interview this January, Spingler told the Philadelphia Inquirer that he did not fondle her and that he was just being affectionate as he has been with her for years.
