Farmers Market Renovation Due to End By May

Several retail spaces are planned at Rosemont Square, the former Borders site.

The developers of the Rosemont Square commercial complex are projecting that in the spring, a farmers market will open where a Borders bookstore once stood.

"Right now, we realistically think we can get the farmers market open in May," said Steve Bajus, whose St. Davids company S.W. Bajus Ltd. is currently renovating the site and looking to lease farmers market-adjacent retail and office space, too.

Bajus is reluctant to announce an opening date while the possibility of construction-slowing winter storms still looms. Crews also have had to refurbish a ramped entrance to meet tighter ADA regulations, Bajus said.

The market should have room for 20 to 25 vendors and run at least three days a week year-round, Bajus said. Adjacent stores would likely be open seven days a week.

Conversations with prospective tenants have been ongoing for "six to eight months," Bajus said.
