Father and Son Duo Brings Rock Climbing to the Mainline

The Gravity Vault Opens it's newest location in Radnor, Pa

Radnor, Pa.- February 15, 2017 - Father and Son owners, Rob and Zach Barber, are finishing up construction on the 16,000+ square foot indoor rock climbing gym opening up in Radnor, Pa. This will be the sixth location for the chain of indoor rock climbing gyms, The Gravity Vault. With this being it’s first location in Pennsylvania, the owners are excited to be breaking into the PA climbing community.

My favorite part of my job is introducing new climbers to the sport, whether they are 6 years old or 60 years old; the initial look of uncertainty that turns to excitement is amazing! I also love being able to challenge the experienced climber. A new facility means new terrain that creates new challenges that will keep the experienced climber pushing to become stronger and train harder.” said Co-owner, Zach Barber.

The Barbers believe the mainline and the surrounding area, with an extraordinary population of active families, students, and workers, will be perfect for the sport of indoor rock climbing. They were set on this area, determined to open a new facility. Zach Barber grew up a competitive person and a fan of traditional sports, but during his first semester in college, a friend introduced him to indoor rock climbing, and he was instantly hooked. Looking for an opportunity to work together with his son and as well as break out of the financial service industry, Rob Barber thought this would be the perfect entrepreneurial business to get involved in.

The Gravity Vault’s first location was built in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, and in a short time they grew the programming options to include memberships, private climbing sessions, birthday parties, camps, competitive climbing teams, belay classes and more. The programming and membership options provide a variety of different ways to come in to climb; with options for those looking for a rainy day challenge to those looking to for a home base to train or exercise, whether inexperienced or experienced.

In 2013, The Gravity Vault took the next step towards bringing rock climbing to local communities everywhere through franchising. The Radnor location will be The Gravity Vault’s third franchisee owned and operated facility. The Gravity Vault is working to open facilities in states spanning the east coast.
