Felonies Filed Against Alleged Bryn Mawr Burglar

Police said a 45-year-old Philadelphia man is facing burglary, theft, and other charges after allegedly breaking into various buildings.

BRYN MAWR, PA — A man accused of burglarizing apartments in Bryn Mawr and other Lower Merion Township locations was arrested and charged with felony crimes recently, police said.

Lamont Shumell Barrett, 45, of Philadelphia was arrested Dec. 4 on a warrant out of Lower Merion by Philadelphia Police during a traffic stop, police said.

He was later turned over to Lower Merion Police.

Barrett is facing charged is burglary, criminal trespassing, theft, receiving stolen property, and access device fraud, all felony charges.

The charged stem from suspicious activity, burglaries, criminal trespass and fraud, which took place at the Metropolitan Apartments in Wynnewood and the Mermont Apartments in Bryn Mawr, police said. Those incidents occurred over the last several months.

Through an investigation into the incidents, police determined Barrett was the alleged criminal.

Barrett is slated for a Dec. 12 preliminary hearing, according to court records.

He is being held on $99,000 bail.
