When it comes to children with IEPs, GIEPs and/or 504 plans, we as parents and caregivers need to continuously improve our skills and strategies to serve as our students' best advocates. Often that begins with taking a collaborative approach to meetings with your student's education team.

To kick off a new school year, the CSE welcomes you to join us for an interactive workshop called "Collaboration on School Teams in Ways That Make a Difference," led by Lorie Brew and Kathleen Haigh, advocacy experts from the Parent Education & Advocacy Leadership Center (PEAL Center). For parents and caregivers, meetings can be emotional. Lorie and Kathleen will discuss strategies and best practices for holding goal-oriented meetings that encourage listening and foster trust.

Ahead of this session, take a minute to reflect upon what has worked and has not worked when meeting with your student's team. There will be opportunities to share ideas and ask questions during this session.
