GES : New Look For LMSD Website

On Monday, October 18, 2021, LMSD will not only welcome our new Superintendent, Dr. Khalid N. Mumin, we will also debut a new look for our District website. Our web address, www.lmsd.org, will remain the same, as will the addresses for all of the individual school pages, but we hope you'll find our refreshed site easier to navigate and the resources you're looking for easier to find. As we work with our provider to launch the website refresh, beginning Friday afternoon, you may see some old pages and new pages, depending on where you navigate. But the plan is to have it all "good to go" by Monday morning.

Once we launch, you're invited to visit the site and click around to familiarize yourself with some of the new features. These include:

• Find It Fast: this link (magnifying glass) in the upper right-hand corner of the desktop opens to reveal both a search bar and an array of icons for the most-searched items (like lunch menus!) on our site. You can either click on the appropriate icon or put keywords in the search bar to find what you need. This window has direct links to all of the school sites and to instructions on how to set up your calendar and calendar notifications.
• Back on the homepage, you'll also find clickable icons that will take you to pages where you'll find important information on topics related to the District or your specific school, such as the COVID response, the Strategic Plan, the new middle school and more. We have the ability to change out these icons and links as different topics warrant your attention (such as linking to school supply lists at the start of the year, or graduation livestreams in June).
• Farther down on the homepage, you'll find both Announcements, a calendar listing of upcoming events and News about interesting stories involving LMSD students, staff and community members. These Announcements and News feeds are separated, so you can find what you need to know quickly in Announcements and peruse features in News when you have more time. Some of the interesting Featured Stories and their accompanying photos are also displayed at the bottom of the page.
  • If you would like to receive alerts when new News or Announcements are posted, please visit this page and sign up for the categories in which you're most interested.
• We've also changed the colors for links on some of the pages where they were hard to see, so as you look at a page it's easy to see where to click to take deeper dives or find additional details

The goal of our website redesign was to make it quick and easy to find information you need – so you'll find that at the top of the pages, with many ways to access it – while continuing to share interesting stories about the people who make our District unique and special – which you can scroll down to access.

As with any new launch, there may be glitches and our team will likely need to make tweaks in the coming days and weeks. If you notice any aspects of the refreshed site that you think need our attention, please email info@lmsd.org and let us know. We welcome your feedback and appreciate your patience.
