Harcum Athletes Win NJCAA Academic Awards

Six teams and four athletes receive scholastic accolades.

In an inspiring and significant display of prowess and professionalism from Harcum’s athletes, six teams and four individuals were recently recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Assocation (NJCAA)—not simply for their achievements on the field—but for their concurrent successes within the classroom. Given the difficult balancing act that is required to truly perform dually as a student and an athlete, this speaks to the commitment to excellence that Harcum’s student-athletes embody.

The NJCAA Team Academic Award—given to those teams with a collective GPA of 3.0 or higher—was accorded to the following teams: Women’s Soccer (3.41), Women’s Volleyball (3.10), Men’s Indoor Track & Field (3.05), Women’s Indoor Track & Field (3.06), Men’s Outdoor Track & Field (3.12), and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field (3.04).

Additionally, the NJCAA Superior Academic Achievement Award—given to those student-athletes who achieve a 3.8 GPA or higher—was granted to the Track and Field stars (and twins) Mark and Morgan Mosley, as well as the Women’s Soccer star Megan Wadja. The NJCAA Exemplary Academic Achievement Award—bestowed on those student athletes who achieve above a 3.6 GPA—was given to the Men’s Basketball star Kade Salisbury.

To further highlight the significance of these academic achievements, consider the following: Kade Salisbury placed 4th nationwide for NJCAA Men’s Basketball, this is the 4th consecutive year that Women’s Soccer has won the NJCAA Team Academic Award, and their 3.41 collective GPA has put them in this year’s 3rd place nationwide. For reference, the NJCAA serves 525 different colleges across 24 regions of the United States.

To say that the Harcum family is proud would be a great understatement.
