Harcum College Annual Fashion Show is Haute Stuff

Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising students showcase original designs!

Bryn Mawr, PA – April 16, 2015 – Harcum College invites students and area residents to its annual Fashion Show on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 8:00 pm in Klein Hall on the Bryn Mawr campus. The show features original designs and collections from Harcum’s Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising students.

“Every year, we proudly showcase the inspired designs of our students,” said Julian Crooks, instructor and program coordinator for continuing studies in design. “This is a fun community event that celebrates our student learnings, some of whom may themselves be featured on a show like ‘Project Runway.’”

2015’s show will also serve as the launch day for Harcum’s new Scentennial Fragrance Collection. Working with General Chemistry students, Dr. Alexandra Hilosky developed and bottled three fragrances representing Harcum’s past (EDITH), present (HaacH), and future (Ursa Rising). Marketing students assisted with the on-campus promotion of the sale. Fragrances will be available for purchase at $10 each during the Fashion Show. All proceeds will benefit the Centennial Scholarship Fund, awarding financial assistance to students.

The fashion show is organized by members of the Harcum College Fashion Club, which includes students from the Design and Fashion Merchandising programs. Harcum’s Fashion Design Program is based on a foundation in art and design, with additional studies in retail management and business. With a core curriculum of both merchandising and business, the Retail Merchandising Program is designed to educate students on fashion trends and designs, fabrics, and garment construction.

Two students from last year’s show were invited to show their collections in Atlantic City Fashion Week 2015.

Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for non-students and are payable by cash only the night of the event. For more information on the show, contact Julian Crooks at 610-526-6087 or jcrooks@harcum.edu.
