Harcum Offers Evening Courses in Design

Courses in Design

Harcum College is offering evening-only classes in Residential, Fashion, and Digitial design beginning October 13 for adults of all ages. Classes can be taken for personal enrichment, professional development, or the pursuit of a certificate. Two new design classes created and priced just for high school students have been added to the Fall 2014 curriculum.

All classes are taught by professionals working in the field at the Bryn Mawr campus, 750 Montgomery Avenue.

The Residential Design program teaches women and men to design rooms from conception to completion. Using creative problem solving, they will learn how to transform a room into a welcoming environment that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Students will learn how to read and draw floor plans, to select fabrics, finishes, furniture, lighting, paint, and accessories.

The Digital Design Certificate program is based on mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite and consists of five required courses including graphic design, Photoshop, Illustrator, desktop publishing with InDesign, and website design.

The Fashion Design Certificate program combines skills and artistry and consists of six required courses including construction, pattern making, design, advanced construction, advanced pattern making, and Photoshop and Illustrator for Fashion Design.

New courses just for high school students include Sewing and Fashion Construction and Life Drawing and Portfolio Development. High school age students through adults of any age may also enroll in the certificate programs at a discounted price.

A ten-percent discount is available for anyone who enrolls by September 22.
