Harriton Faces Big Test In Upper Darby

The Rams beat Radnor last week.

wants to escape that gray area of the Central League. The Rams are the kind of mid-level team that are beating the teams they’re supposed to beat (28-14 victory over Radnor last Friday), yet need to take that step up against some of the better teams in the league.

Another step comes against Upper Darby this Friday at 7 p.m. The Rams were in the game against undefeated Springfield, before losing 35-19—the 16-point difference coming on a last-second touchdown.

“We showed we can compete, but the next few weeks will be a great test for us,” said senior captain Ryan Kelly, the Rams’ starting outside linebacker and tight end. “It all comes down to this week of practice. Our practices have been pretty weak these last two weeks. There’s too much goofing around and a lack of focus. That’s the thing with Harriton, it’s why we’ve struggled in the past. It’s up to the seniors to push these younger guys through."

The Rams are 2-1 overall with Upper Darby, Garnet Valley and Marple Newtown the next three weeks.

“If we come out this Friday and show a strong fight, that makes a statement to the league,” Kelly said. “People look forward to playing us, but I think we’re definitely a threat this year. We’re not a team someone can just run over.”
