Harriton Is Turning Into A Points Machine

The Rams are averaging 47 points a game their last three games, going back into last year.

There is a good chance they won’t take them lightly this year, not with what did in its season opener against Chichester, dropping more than 40 points in a 41-26 victory last Friday. This is not anything new. In fact, the Rams, led by star junior quarterback Pat Moriarty, have scored 41 points or better for three-straight games, going back to the final two games of last season.

is averaging 47 points a game in its last three games, and the Rams will be hosting one of the better defenses in the area in their Central League opener against visiting Springfield Friday night at 7 p.m. The two teams played a tight game last year, when Springfield won, 20-16.

“Springfield is a big game for us,” said Moriarty, who threw for a career-best 326 yards and three touchdowns against Chichester. “We lost by four points to them last year, and I think they looked by us. They weren’t prepared for us. This is a year we’re looking to prove some things. We think we have the talent to beat anyone. We know they’re coming for us and we’re coming for them.”

Moriarty has already taken a look at Springfield and its stellar defense, led by linebackers Mike Dougherty and Tyler Morrissey.

“What I liked what we did against Chichester is we spread them out,” Moriarty said. “Defensively, Springfield is very good, and their middle linebacker is very good, but we still have confidence. We’re not just a passing team. We have balanced attack. Our line is better than it was
last year. This game will be a close one. I think they’re going to come into this game well prepared. They won’t look past us this time, and they shouldn’t.”
