Haverford School directors unanimously passed an 2013-14 budget that is identical to the draft budget proposed in May. The budget calls for a 3.55 percent increase in school property taxes. The millage rate will rise from 26.7305 to 27.6784 mills, which amounts to an additional $153 in taxes for the average residential property assessed at $162,000. The total school property tax bill will be $4,478 for the average assessed home. The school district used referendum exceptions for special education and the Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System to permit the district to raise taxes above the 1.7 percent Act 1 index set by the state.
