Mainline Gives Back Award

Brittany Clark, Admissions Counselor and Head Women's Basketball Coach, was the first person to "house" the MLCC award

The Main Line Chamber of Commerce awarded Harcum College the Main Line Gives Back award for the efforts put forth by so many last year during the 100 Acts of Service initiative to celebrate the Centennial. Dr. DeTemple received the physical award during a recognition event in early November. Since dozens of employees, students, alumni, and families contributed to winning this award, DeTemple decided it shouldn’t just sit on a shelf, but rather it should be passed around to everyone who helped earn it.

Similar to what is done in professional hockey with the winner of the Stanley Cup, Harcum community members will share the award. In hockey, the championship team is allotted 100 days during the off-season to pass around the Cup to players, sponsors, and team staff. Victors of the cup have used it to baptize their children. Two players even allowed their dogs to eat out of the Cup.

Brittany Clark, Admissions Counselor and Head Women’s Basketball Coach, was the first person to “house” the MLCC award. She had two days to bask in its presence. “It was important to me that my entire team participated in the Acts of Service. Our athletes are here on scholarships and that’s a great privilege, so I thought they should return the kindness shown to them by helping others,” remarked Clark. She chose to pass the award to faculty member Alexandra Hilosky. The award will continue to make its rounds across campus, with each recipient having two days before they must pass it on.
