Man Accused Of Beating Mother Arrested In Bryn Mawr: NJ Police

A South Jersey man accused of beating his mother with a rock was taken into custody in Bryn Mawr with the help of Lower Merion Police.

BRYN MAWR, PA – A South Jersey man was taken into custody in Bryn Mawr recently after authorities said he struck his mother in the head with a rock and caused severe injuries.

Lawrence Y. Kim, 43, of Marlton, is charged with aggravated assault after Evesham Police responded to a Marlton home on Monday for a reported assault.

Police found a 75-year-old woman unconscious, "with severe injuries to her head."

First responders transported the woman from the Woodlake Drive residence to Cooper University Hospital, where she is in critical but stable condition, according to police.

"The investigation determined that the female sustained her injuries as a result of a physical assault, she was beaten with a landscaping rock," Evesham Police said in a news release. "The investigation identified the suspect, as the biological son of the victim."

Kim faces second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose charges, a news release said.

Evesham officers located Kim in Bryn Mawr and worked with Lower Merion police to arrest him, the department said. Kim awaits extradition to New Jersey.
