Man Allegedly Defecates In Lower Merion Library: Cops
The suspect was identified by Facebook followers of local police.

BRYN MAWR, PA -- A man who allegedly defecated in the stairwell of a Lower Merion public library has been identified and apprehended, police said.
Lower Merion police posted surveillance footage of the suspect at Ludington Library to their Facebook page on Monday.
Just a few hours later, with the help of fans of the department’s brand new Facebook page, the suspect had been identified.

The surveillance video was later removed.
“The Investigations Unit would like to thank our FB friends for your partnership,” police said in a follow up post .”A tentative identification has been made in the case of criminal mischief at Ludington Library.”

Comments below the post ranged from poo-related humor to serious concerns for the suspect’s health.
“Will there be an attempt at a ballistic match?” queried Hugh Ehrenberg.
Others, meanwhile, speculated the suspect may have Alzheimer’s and urged compassion.
“I am glad they identified him. We should have some sympathy. He clearly has a problem,” said Michelle Cohen.
“Our investigators will work through all issues present and proceed with empathy and integrity,” police wrote. “We will pursue justice in a way that protects the public and considers the totality of the circumstance.”
Lower Merion police launched the page on January 7. It already has nearly 2,500 likes.
