Raccoon Found In Gladwyne Was Rabid: Lower Merion Officials
The Montgomery County Health Department should be contacted for any recent instance of a person or pet coming into contact with a raccoon.

GLADWYNE, PA – A raccoon recently found in the Gladwyne section of Lower Merion Township was tested for rabies and determined to be rabid, township officials said. The Montgomery County Health Department confirmed Jan. 24 that the racoon, found on Glenmoor Road in the Gladwyne, tested positive for rabies.
The health department said anyone who has been bitten or scratched by, or had saliva exposure to a raccoon must seek treatment immediately to prevent rabies from infecting them.
"If you, someone in your household, or any of your pets have possibly had contact with a raccoon or any other stray or wild animal, immediately call the Montgomery County Health Department, Division of Communicable Disease Control at (610) 278-5117," officials said.
