REMINDER: Gladwyne Free Library Reopening Saturday

The nearly 100-year-old building got some TLC to bring it up to speed with 2017.

The Gladwyne Free Library is celebrating its recently renovations, expansions and upgrades by holding a grand opening ceremony Saturday, March 25 and will officially reopen Monday, March 27.

The grand reopening will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 1:15 p.m.

Attendees can take self-guided tours and can ride the new glass elevator.

On hand will be balloons, soft pretzels, and simple crafts for kids.

The renovations included a glass-enclosed elevator, making all three floors of the library easily accessible to the handicapped and parents with strollers; an ADA compliant rest room, a new teen area, and improved staff workspace.

Service improvements include the addition of printing from mobile devices, self-checkout, upgraded computers, easy-access wi-fi and credit card acceptance.

Part of the renovations were funded by a $500,000 Keystone Grant.

historic 1921 building has been upgraded for 21st century service and will re-open on Monday, March 27, 2017 after extensive renovations and expansion.

Hours of operation for the library are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
