Astronomy Night and Sustainability Sunday in Gladwyne during the Philadelphia Science Festival April 24-May 2

Riverbend Environmental Center will host Astronomy Night and Sustainability Sunday: Simple Steps to a Naturally Greener Life as part of the fifth annual Philadelphia Science Festival.
Astronomy Night on Friday, April 24, one of the 29 Astronomy Night events happening across the region, will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Riverbend Environmental Center located at 1950 Spring Mill Road and is free and open to the public. Local astronomers will be on-site with telescopes for guests and attendees will be guided on a tour of the sky.
Sustainability Sunday is also part of the nine-day Philadelphia Science Festival where Riverbend Environmental Center will partner with Lower Merion Township’s Environmental Advisory Council, the Lower Merion Conservancy, the Franklin Institute and other local green organizations to present better ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. The event will take place on Sunday, April 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m and is free and open to the public. Attendees will get a closer look at composting, discover how fish can grow our food, hear about the benefits of rain barrels and rain gardens, learn to pack a “green” lunch, and learn how planting native trees and plants can help reduce the heat of climate change.
