Showcase Your Talent; Create a Centennial Square

Talent

Have you picked up a square to design for Harcum’s Centennial Bears and Squares art engagement project? The College is handing out 10x10 inch square canvases to be drawn upon, painted, or filled out with any medium you like. They don’t need to be submitted until the 31st of May, so time is certainly on your side, and the only thematic requirement is that the piece reflects the word “possibilities”. To the keen minded, the word “possibilities” is vague enough to encompass just about any subject matter one can imagine, and the sky really is the limit. You don’t need to be a great artist to make a great square—you only need to use your imagination well! Those pieces that stand out in the care and quality of their execution may be auctioned at the Centennial Gala for the Centennial Scholarship Fund—a noble and worthy cause to be sure. If you are interested but don’t have a square: head on down to the Trout Library, where they will be dispensed while supplies last. Share your visions, showcase your talent, or just have fun with this creative and altruistic endeavor!

Photo: This Centennial square was completed by Vera Castro, age 10, who learned techniques she used to make her square while in art class at Radnor Elementary School.

Editor’s Note: Coulter, who is a first-year Law and Justice major, has already outlined his Centennial square and is contemplating what medium to complete it in.
