Sign Repairs Will Close Anderson Avenue Wednesday Night

The road will be closed on both sides of the rail bridge for repair on the ARDMORE sign.

Lower Merion township officials have announced scheduled repairs on the “ARDMORE” sign located on the south side of the rail bridge on Anderson Avenue in Ardmore will force the closure of the road Wednesday night.

The closure will start at 8 p.m. Wednesday and end by 5 a.m. to avoid as much traffic congestion as possible, according to a release from the township. Detour signs will be posted this week. During the repairs, Station Avenue will be partially open so commuters can access the Ardmore train station and the SEPTA parking lot.

  • Westbound Lancaster Avenue: Detour should be Woodside Road to Montgomery Avenue, east on Montgomery to Anderson.
  • Eastbound Lancaster Avenue: Follow to Church Road, left onto Church, left onto Coulter Avenue (remember there is no left allowed at Montgomery and Church).
  • Westbound Montgomery Avenue: Follow Montgomery Avenue westbound to Woodside Road, left at Woodside, left onto Lancaster.
  • Eastbound Montgomery Avenue: Follow Montgomery Avenue eastbound to Church Road, right onto Lancaster Avenue, to Station Road.

The repairs were originally scheduled for earlier this month, but inclement weather conditions forced the township to postpone the project.
