Teens, Experts Discussing Social Media Use In Bryn Mawr Wednesday​

Teens will share how and why they use social media and discuss the latest trends at the porgram.

Social media is ubiquitous. We find out about our friends' engagements, see the latest breaking news, watch viral videos, and share with others what matters most to us.

For teens, social media is a massive part of life, having grown up with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more social networks.

Luckily, the Starfish Project for Children's Teen Board is looking to clear up misconceptions about teen's social media use with a program Wednesday evening at Harriton High School in Bryn Mawr.

The program will be held Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Harriton High, 600 N Ithan Ave., Bryn Mawr.

The free presentation is for parents of school-aged students and will begin with teenagers speaking about how and why they use social media and the latest trends.

A panel of experts including a psychologist, a law enforcement officer, a college admissions officer and a vocational expert who will discuss social media usage and how it affects your children after the teens share their experiences.

Attendees will be able to ask questions at the program, too.

The Starfish Project for Children aims to motivate school aged children, kindergarten through 12th grade, to engage in community service through competing for age appropriate awards and community recognition and providing connection to an organized effort.
