White Dog Cafe To Celebrate National Potato Day Oct. 27

HAVERFORD, PA - -White Dog Cafe locations in Haverford and Wayne are partnering with Martha’s Choice Marketplace, the most visited food pantry in Montgomery County, to celebrate National Potato Day, October 27, 2021, and to bring awareness to the need to build communities through access to healthy food.

Martha’s Choice Marketplace, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia has created Martha’s Community Farm in Audubon where produce including potatoes are grown in a partnership with Garden of Health which distributes fresh produce and food free of the top eight allergens to food pantries, low-income senior housing and community groups in Montgomery and Bucks Counties in Pennsylvania.

“When we went out to the farm to meet the group from Martha’s Choice, we knew immediately that this was something we wanted to be involved with as it fits perfectly with the ethos of White Dog Cafe which includes using ingredients purchased from local farms no more than 50 miles from our restaurants,” Zach Grainda, Fearless Restaurants Director of Culinary Operations.

The one-day fundraiser event will feature a trio of vichyssoise, pommes souffle, and a potato and shallot gallet for $20 made with potatoes harvested from the farm at Martha’s Community Farm, 100 percent of the proceeds from this dish will benefit the Martha’s Choice Food Pantry located in Norristown, PA. Guests can order the trio at lunch, dinner, and happy hour Wednesday, October 27 at White Dog Cafe Haverford 379 Lancaster Ave, Haverford and White Dog Cafe Wayne.

Martha’s Community Farm started in February 2021 and seeks to build upon the community-building principles that drive our Choice Marketplace, in an effort to form partnerships in growing food for Martha’s and the many pantries of Montgomery County.
