Working Mom Of 2 Helping Older Neighbors: Gladwyne Hero

GLADWYNE, PA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

This submission comes from Patricia Haley, who nominated her neighbor Juliette Collins De Temple.

Haley says Juliette is raising two children who are out of school while working from home, but still makes time to help out her neighbors amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Juliette is a single mom of two. She is working from home and monitoring 2 middle school children are that are getting classes online. She helps them with science experiments and logs gym time. Also, she rescued a puppy just before quarantine. Juliette is a very busy person. She is also very cheerful and kind. She listens to gospel music most days because her faith is an important part of her life.

We talk over the fence sometimes but I haven’t even been here a year yet. I told her I was having difficulty scheduling a grocery delivery. I am 20 yrs older than her and I have 2 autoimmune diseases. I was getting nervous about going into the grocery stores. She offered to pick up groceries for my house and another senior a few doors down. She has to get these large groceries orders rung up, packed, and dropped on our porches separately. Its a lot of extra work and extra time for a very busy woman.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
Juliette is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. Although, she is juggling a lot right now, all of us are better off for knowing her.
