• VA Awards 1.9 Million to organizations for suicide Prevention in Pennsylvania (va.gov) — Butler-area veterans and families should know that the VA has awarded nearly $2 million to three Pennsylvania organizations supporting suicide prevention, with the announcement coming directly from Butler. These grants, part of a larger national program, will fund community-based services starting in fiscal 2027 and aim to reach veterans who aren't currently using VA health care, connecting them with crisis support and ongoing care.
   

• Swatting incident leads to schools on lockdown in Butler County (cbsnews.com) — Students and parents in the Butler Area School District endured a tense lockdown after hoax calls falsely reported an armed threat, triggering a major police response. Butler Township officers secured and searched the school and nearby area, neighboring districts also locked down, and investigators are now working to identify whoever made the swatting calls.
   

• Music of Studio Ghibli to open Butler symphony season (butlereagle.com) — Anime and film music fans in Butler can hear Joe Hisaishi's Studio Ghibli scores live when the Butler County Symphony opens its season with a pops concert at Butler Intermediate High School. Organizers hope the Oct. 3 show will introduce new audiences to the symphony through accessible, family-friendly music and onstage explanations from music director Moon Doh.
