Work Set For Preston Park - ButlerRadio.com - Butler, PA (butlerradio.com) — Butler Township is starting a $500,000 first phase of improvements at Preston Park, including widening and resurfacing the internal road and replacing culvert pipes to reduce sediment buildup. Work should wrap up by the end of next month, and the park will stay open to Butler-area visitors throughout construction.

Demolition Begins on Vacant Building on Main Street (butlerradio.com) — Crews have begun demolishing the long-vacant historic building at 123 South Main Street in the City of Butler, a structure dating back to the 1870s. The city’s land bank acquired the property and is spending nearly $103,000 on demolition, while Main Street remains open and only East Birch Street is temporarily closed to traffic.

County Sees CYS Services Increasing In Cost (wbut.com) — Butler County Children and Youth Services is facing sharply rising costs for shelter, placement, and foster care, with placement and juvenile probation expenses projected to jump by nearly $10 million next year. While the overall $25 million budget leans heavily on state and federal support, local taxpayers could still feel the impact as specialized placements sometimes exceed $1,000 per day.
